Ukraine avoids recession: GDP growth resumes in the first quarter
Ukraine's economy grew by 0.9% in early 2025
Ukraine's real gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.9% in the first quarter year-on-year, according to preliminary estimates from the State Statistics Service.
This indicates that Ukraine’s economy has avoided a recession and returned to modest growth, following a 0.1% contraction in the final quarter of 2024.
- The International Monetary Fund has not ruled out the possibility of an economic contraction in Ukraine in 2025.
- However, Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy projects a sharp acceleration of GDP growth starting in 2026.
